Helping older people stay active

We are a not for profit exercise business devoted to helping older people stay active and independent regardless of their medical conditions or their age.

We are looking for people to work with us to deliver more of our physiotherapist designed Keep Phytt classes in the mid / west Kent areas. (Tunbridge Wells to Gravesend/ Medway towns, Bexleyheath to Headcorn).

Our instructors need to have a minimum of level 2 training in the fitness industry. All our instructors will receive our Keep Phytt training and continued support to deliver Keep Phytt classes to our clients. We want our clients to receive the best help they can as many of them have additional medical conditions.

We are primarily looking for people to lead classes but we are also keen to talk to physiotherapists who might be interested in supporting our fitness classes .

Our classes are during the day which will fit really well if you wish to work during school hours, if you deliver fitness classes early mornings or evenings or if you are simply looking to fill your days with something different.

Our hours are flexible – you decide how many hours you would like to work or how many classes you would like to run each week.

We are a small company looking to expand and are open to suggestions and solutions. Talk to us about how you could fit into our business.

If you are looking for a rewarding role that allows you to make a positive difference in the lives of others and you like what you have seen here then we encourage you to leave us your details and book a 15 minute discovery call with us.

If you want to know more about who we are and what we do please read on :

Keep Phytt started because older people were finding it difficult to find a local exercise class that suited them. As a physiotherapist I frequently saw people who had been advised by the doctor or the nurse to exercise but nothing worked for them. They wanted
a class with friendly faces, like-minded people, people who had similar difficulties to them, people who had painful joints, people who struggled to get on and off the floor, people who didn't see or hear very well.

Local instructors were happy to have them in their classes but the older people didn't feel comfortable in the class, they felt like they were a bit of a special case, a bit of a nuisance and that they held the rest of the class back.

At Keep Phytt we understand how the body and mind changes with age. We see those changes in our clients and respect their difficulties and value their willingness to try to make a difference. We believe that everybody who wants to, should be able to live a full and active life doing the things that they enjoy for the rest of their lives.

Our role is to help them, despite the changes they may experience in their physical health, to stay independent, strong and safe. We want everyone’s Gran and Grandad to be able to join in family activities whether that involves playing on the floor with the kids, eating out
or dancing the night away!

Our founder, Carole, has been teaching individuals how to manage pain and improve movement for over thirty-five years as a physiotherapist.
She started exercise classes in Borough Green, Kent in 2017 and, in the last 18 months, the Keep Phytt business has grown rapidly with classes in village halls and community centres from Tonbridge to New Ash Green and from Bexleyheath to Headcorn.

The dream of having a class available within 10 minutes of anyone in the country is beginning to become a reality.

We offer a unique blend of fitness instruction with medical oversight from a physiotherapist. With additional instructors we will be able to reach more people, helping them to overcome some of the fear and anxiety caused by ageing bodies that hurt, wobble and fall more often. We will be able to offer useful hints and tips of alternative ways to do things and most importantly help people get and stay strong, keep their heart and lungs working as well as possible and reduce the impact of many illnesses associated with ageing from diabetes to cancers and dementia.

If you believe in helping people to stay healthy and independent regardless of their age then becoming one of our instructors could be the ideal job for you.

Keep Phytt is more than just exercises for older people. It’s an insight into growing old gracefully…..

Mentoring and training are high on our priorities for anyone joining our team.

To lead our classes, a qualification in fitness is only the beginning. Working with older people needs a different approach. We have our own training package to teach you some of the differences but you need a drive to learn and grow in ways to help people stay active and independent.

We provide regular support, new exercise routines and equipment to enable you to deliver the classes but you need to provide the enthusiasm, patience and empathy to care for our clients as much as we do.

If you are looking for a rewarding role that allows you to make a positive difference in the lives of others and you like what you have seen here then we encourage you to leave us your details and book a 15 minute discovery call with us.
